Ron Paul and the media blackout.

What is up with Ron Paul and the media almost completely ignoring him?  That i,s unless it is negative in nature.  Ron Paul comes in at 2nd place in the Iowa Straw Pole and it seemed almost every major media outlet didn't even mention his name.  Fox News, which is mostly conservative skips over his name when listing the contestants.  So, we have a first place winner,  Michele Bachmann (4,823 votes), and a third place winner, Pawlenty (2,293).  Fourth place, Rick Santorum, (1,657) and then fellow Texan Rick Perry only got 718 votes and placed 6th.  Ron Paul on the other hand got 4,671 votes, barely losing to Michele Bachmann.  When it came time the announce the winners, guess what?  They just passed over his name like he didn't even exist!  He had less than 1% difference in the votes.

Another case of the lack off media coverage is this.  As well as, this statement from Willam F. Jasper:  "A recent study by the Pew Research Center confirms what many Ron Paul supporters have claimed all along, that the mainstream media (MSM) have indeed been singling out Paul for the ostracism treatment. Among other things, the study found, as reported by politico.com, that "Ron Paul has been featured in 27 news articles since January, fewer than Rick Perry's 33 articles, even though the Texas governor announced his candidacy less than three weeks ago."

There are those who say that Ron's lack of coverage is to do with, his not being seen as a serious contender. I believe that this is mostly a political ploy being used by people who are afraid of Ron Paul and his beliefs and wanting much less "Big" government in our lives and more state rights.  Too many powerful people with too much wrapped up in having "bigger" government, to let Ron Paul have much of the spotlight.

  1. Republicans do not want Ron Paul siphoning votes from their next candidate. That is what I believe anyway. I have a few republican friends who have been Ron Paul supporters for a long time but the fact is he will never get elected so no matter how much he appeals to some on the right the party leaders will try their best to down play anything to do with Ron Paul. It is a situation very similar to that of the democrats and Ralph Nader. Many democrats believe Ralph Nader cost Al Gore the election in 2000 and I believe that republicans don't want to see Ron Paul costing Perry or Romney the next election. That's my theory anyway.
